Trips in the High Tatras
Tatranská Lomnica | Starý Smokovec | Štrbské Pleso
In Tatranská Lomnica you will be fascinated with the views of the impressive mountain peak - Lomnický štít 2.634 m asl. where you can get comfortably by suspension cable car from Skalnaté Pleso. On you way up you can enjoy the pompous Tatra views. There are two cable cars to get you to the most popular tarn of Skalnaté Pleso from the cable car station Štart: an original 4-seater and a new modern 15-seater cable car. Since 1937, trippers, tourists and skiers have been able to comfortably get to Skalnaté Pleso. There are plenty of attractions and great fun for you and your children at Skalnaté Pleso. A double chairlift from the station of Skalnaté Pleso can transport you to the saddleback of Lomnické Sedlo which offers the best views of the small valley of Studená dolina. If you are lucky, you can see Tatra chamois grazing on the mountain meadows. Attractive mountain adventures of the Tatra Wilderness will satisfy the curiosity of your children and their desire to explore the natural environment. Searching for hidden Tatra secrets and animal stories will bring your children to the Marmot Land eco–mini–park at Skalnaté Pleso. Mountain bike rides and mountain scooters supply visitors with adrenaline and fun while having stay in the Tatra Mountains. Fun in any weather can continue in the Chamois Land amusement park where a huge 2-storey maze stretching over an area of up to 80m2 can be found along with a relaxation zone for parents.
To get to Hrebienok, take a modern funicular railway which was also used by Queen Elizabeth II in 2008. The funicular will take you to a place that is the most frequent starting point for short walks or longer hiking trips in the Tatras. Several events take place in summer at Hrebienok, i.e. The Bear Days – an untraditional Tatra festival of bears. After a day spent hiking in the mountains, visitors can take a rest on comfortable deckchairs in a pleasant zone, where they can discover wooden bear sculptures with educational boards providing information about the bears all over the world. Your children can enjoy the LEGO® bricks exhibition in Bricklandia. They can also try a summer attraction – a specially adjusted tube – and blow off steam during summertubing.
Štrbské Pleso welcomes its visitors with crystal mountain water where they can try sailing wooden flat boats. Just a short walk away, there is a 4-seater chairlift which takes you up to a mountain cottage at Solisko.
