You can take the funicular to Hrebienok from Starý Smokovec from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
THE EVENT IS FREE FOR EVERYBODY.
Deep in the forests of the Green Kingdom, a mysterious rumour is spreading about a lost treasure that holds the secrets of nature and forest creatures. Children become young explorers tasked with uncovering the mysteries of the forest and finding the treasure. Along their journey, they will meet various woodland beings who will give them tasks and challenges they must complete to get closer to the treasure. Challenges:
With an old Tatra local
Task: At this stop, children will receive the basic instructions for the whole game.
Deer jumping
Task: Children will take part in a jumping competition, imitating the jumps of deer. At the end of the race, they will need to collect “food” (e.g. coloured balls) from the forest. Goal: Developing physical fitness and team spirit.
Bear art
Task: Children will create a piece of art inspired by bears, using natural materials found in the forest. Goal: Developing artistic skills and creativity.
Lynx games
Task: Children will take part in team games such as “lynx relay races,” where they must carry objects without using their hands. Goal: Encouraging teamwork and develop physical ability.
Squirrel stashes
Task: Children will learn how squirrels collect and hide food. At this stop, they will need to find “hidden nuts” (e.g. balls) and carry them to their “nest.” Goal: Developing planning skills and cooperation.
Bird’s nest
Task: Children will build small “nests” using natural materials while learning about different bird species and their needs. Goal: Developing teamwork and knowledge about bird ecology.
Bee family
Task: Children will learn about the importance of forest bees and their role in the ecosystem. At this stop, they will need to perform a “bee dance,” imitating how bees communicate the location of food sources. They can also build simple beehives from natural materials like corn husks or leaves. Goal: Learning about bees, their behaviour and their importance to nature. Developing teamwork and creativity through dancing and building activities.
Activities:
Dance: Children will learn how bees “dance” to show the location of food sources. They can invent their own dance and present it to the others.
Building a hive: Creating a model beehive from natural materials while learning how bees live and work together.
This challenge promotes not only knowledge about bees but also fun and creativity in interaction with nature.
Mysterious sounds
Task: Children will be split into groups, and they will need to identify sounds coming from the forest. Goal: Improving auditory perception and attention.
Forest magic
Task: Children will learn some simple “forest spells” (e.g. how to attract birds or other animals). Each spell will be linked to a specific skill (e.g. observation, silence). Goal: Encouraging creativity and imagination.
Forest kitchen
Task: Children will learn how to prepare a simple meal using natural ingredients (e.g. fruit, nuts) and will create their own “forest snack.” Goal: Developing cooking skills and learning about edible plants.
Conclusion
At the end of the “Great Forest Adventure”, children will not only discover the treasure but also form new friendships and develop a love for nature. The event supports active learning, cooperation and fun in the natural environment, offering children a unique adventure they will remember for a long time.

On 27th and 28th July 2024, we recommend travelling to Starý Smokovec by public transport, either by Tatra tram or bus. Those who decide to come by car will have to park in private car parks in the town of Vysoké Tatry – Starý Smokovec. And from there, a comfortable funicular runs to Hrebienok. The best is to buy your cable car ticket online at www.gopass.travel in advance to avoid queuing and pay less.
