Region of the High Tatras

The whole area of the town is located in the oldest Slovak national park – Tatra National Park (TANAP). Covering 380 km², it is the second largest town in Slovakia and its parts are connected by the so-called Road of Freedom (Cesta slobody) all the way to Tatranská Kotlina. Fifteen local parts fall administratively under the village of Starý Smokovec, which ranks among the most visited tourist resorts along with Tatranská Lomnica. The town's territory spans the High Tatras and the Belianske Tatra Mts. in the north-western part of the Spiš region. With a population of 5,000, it is classified as a small town with significant tourism. 


Starý Smokovec

Hrebienok
